Default Factions Soundtrack on DirectSong

i just noticed that factions soundtrack has just landed on directsong and i've insta-purchased it.
i still haven't listened beyond track #4 'cause i'm stucked at #2 listening it again and again, but the score really seems to be excellent...



not sure why i posted this... maybe someone else is interested

I just downloaded the score as well. It's beautiful. I love that they included the trailer music but I am disappointed that they didn't include the music from the cinematic trailer. Oh well, can't be too choosy...

Anyone notice the beginning website music has a hint of that FF7 song in Cosmo Canyon? When you're in the area with the materia

Also, this music is supposedly available on Direct Song only. Is that currently or ever? What's coming on the CD with the CE?

I don't really like it. The vast majority of the music in Guild Wars, and on all those sample tracks sounds ambient and boring. Maybe it's because the game is limited in that it can't change tunes at a boss fight, or whatever, but they should definitely try to do that. Music can made good games great, and bad games mediocre.

I agree but the game's engine isn't that limited. Expecially if they can just throw in DS3D at a whim.

AND I agree, they really need some battle music when a boss or something special comes up that needs to be faught. Right now Factions music is more of the same.

I was actually excited to try Direct Song back in the day but it began lagging me severely when I would enter an area which triggered it. So I got rid of it. It wasn't all that great anyways. Not that there is anything wrong with ambient music... as long as it is made not to jump at you and, like the people above said, it quickens/slows pace depending on what it is you are doing.

Personally I dislike the fact that you have to buy additional music for the game... It makes me wonder, did that guy compose a bunch of songs pick and choose from them then go- I'll put these into Factions and then sell these on the side for 10 dollars. Sure 10 dollars isn't alot but I believe that the complete audio package is within the right of the purchaser of the game. The way I see it, Factions is incomplete with only 50% out of the 100%.

Guild Wars is definitly lacking in the music department, not in quality, but in quantity. I wish music would change when you engage in combat, or become much more epic when you fight a boss; But alas, GW isn't FF. :P

I am almost positive, but the Factions Pre Order disc has ALL of the Direct Song songs on it.

I remembered after I got the Direct Song pack :/

Wasn't the DS soundtrack pak free when you buy the game? Is it not the same with Factions? If so, then they won't be getting my money for bland classic music.

No, they didn't compose a bunch of music and then withhold half of it to sell later. Only Bethesda and Microsoft do stuff like that. (With Oblivion. SHAME on them!) Hiring a composer takes money (probably a decent amount of it for Mr. Soule) and GW came out of the box with more music than many games. The DS deal means that there's enough money to hire the composer to make MORE music. You can't make it out to be a bad deal, no matter how hard you try. Of course, they don't need to be raising the price anymore than they already have. Music isn't exactly worth a full 1/5 of the game's total price.

The pre-order CD has 7 tracks. The actual soundtrack (as purchased from Direct Song) has 24.

Omega X, there have been four song packs released for GW so far:

Guild Wars soundtrack: The original Prophesies soundtrack so you can listen to it outside of the game. Includes a handful of new songs that are added to the in-game music.

Sorrow's Furnace music: Free. Adds new in-game music to the new areas of Sorrow's Furnace, etc.

Battle Pack: Doubles the amount of in-game music in GW.

Factions Soundtrack: The Factions soundtrack so you can listen to it outside of the game. I don't know if it adds any extra in-game music to Factions, but a retail copy of Factions WILL come with all the Factions in-game music. You don't have to buy the soundtrack from DS to be able to hear it in-game.

Nice to know you think clasical music is bland. ^_^ Luckily, not everyone agrees.

Oh, and Teelana Singh: The cinematic trailer music is on there. It's "Day of the Jade Wind", track #20.

I dont think this is quite right.

i haven't down loaded the music yet cos i am one poor arse, but in general i enjoy istening to the music in GW, and like many people have said music can make or break a game ... sometimes

Well, yeah, that's why I said that I didn't know whether or not it'd add any new music. The extra music, though (at least from the Prophesies soundtrack, it'll probably be similar) is only a small handful of songs, though. By the layout of the Factions soundtrack, I'd guess the 4 bonus tracks (out of 24) won't come with the game, but that's it.

One song in this pak differs from the Factions Preorder version ("Kaineng City"), which was probably one of the best songs in the FPE. Grr. At least you can have it on CD, still.

#2. I know about the paks. It was a question to get someone to ping in since I don't use the paks exclusively.

#3. I didn't say that Classical music was BLAND. I SAID THAT GUILD WARS MUSIC WAS BLAND. Pay attention. There is a difference between powerful classic music and what Guild Wars uses. Jeremy needs to put more of himself into his music and not repeat the same patterns all the time with every track.

Another note on the soundtrack from DS is that its 320kbit, for better listening outside of the game. Some ppl might not notice the difference or even care, but it does make a difference
